We are
rooted in the
community.
African Cry Foundation is a community-based organisation working in Jinja and Buikwe districts to empower vulnerable rural communities and help households become self-reliant.
“Here I am, send me.”

Kagoma Village — Our Community
Empowering from the grassroots
African Cry Foundation works with vulnerable rural communities to empower girls, women, youth, orphans, elderly persons, and persons with disabilities through education, entrepreneurship, health, WASH, microfinance, and vocational training.
Operating primarily in Kagoma, Buwenge, and surrounding areas, our goal is to reduce poverty, promote dignity, and build capacity so communities can lead their own sustainable development.
Community-Led
Solutions come from within — never imposed from outside.
Inclusive Support
Empowering the elderly, orphans, and persons with disabilities.
Faith-Rooted
Inspired by Isaiah 6:8 — a calling, not a career.
Self-Reliance
Fostering financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.
A world without ultra-poverty — built by the community,
for the community.
We adopt an innovative, community-driven approach focused on creating awareness, fueling income-generating opportunities, and breaking the chronic cycle of ultra-poverty — with particular emphasis on women, youth, orphans, and vulnerable households.
Empower & Equip
Vocational skills, savings groups, and microfinance—giving rural women, single mothers, and youth the tools to generate income and achieve financial independence.
Educate & Protect
Supporting orphans and vulnerable children with education, food, and medicine. We fight early marriage and advocate for children to grow safely within family homes.
Sustain & Include
Enhancing community health, WASH, and providing critical support for the elderly and persons with disabilities to build a resilient, inclusive society.
Six pillars of
transformation
Our programs combine education, health, enterprise, and social support to uplift every vulnerable member of our community.
Orphans & Vulnerable Children
We provide food, medicine, and school fees to keep children in school and fight early marriage. We prioritize family-based care over orphanages whenever possible.
Education · Child Care Support
Vocational Skills & Enterprise
Equipping women and youth with practical skills like liquid soap production, body jelly making, tailoring, and poultry farming to build economic dignity.
Girls & Women Empowerment
Microfinance & Savings
Providing small, collateral-free loans starting from $50 to poor rural women. Our savings groups help women start businesses, build assets, and raise living standards.
ACFWS Women’s Savings Group
Youth Empowerment & Sports
Helping rural youth develop personal growth, agency, and leadership. We use community galas and talent scouting to provide hope and education bursaries.
Agency · Voice · Leadership
WASH & Community Health
Improving water, sanitation, and hygiene in villages and schools. We also mobilize medical professionals to connect children with severe medical challenges to care.
Clean Water · Health Access
Inclusion & Capacity Building
Supporting elderly persons and those with disabilities through rehabilitation, wheelchairs, advocacy, and helping local people take ownership of their development.
Disability Inclusion · Elderly CareEvery number is
a real person.
We share stories not as tales of despair, but as testaments to the extraordinary resilience that lives in the heart of every person in Kagoma.
Her story represents hundreds of children we walk alongside every day in Jinja District.
“In every hardship, there is a lesson; in every setback, a seed of courage.”

Where nature meets empowerment
We believe nature is not just a resource — it is a transformative space where communities, especially young girls and women, can thrive. Our programs integrate agriculture, eco-friendly enterprises, and outdoor learning.

Founded — Under a Tree
African Cry Foundation is established in Kagoma village, Jinja District. No office. No salary. Just a calling and a community that needed to be heard.

The African Cry Foundation Women’s Savings Group begins providing micro-loans and entrepreneurial training to women across Kagoma and Kikode villages.
Skills Training & School Partnerships
Formal partnerships with Busoga Light Congress Secondary School and Jinja Christian School. Soap and body jelly production programs launch for girls.
Sports Galas & Health Programs

Nine Institutional Partnerships
ACF expands its network to nine partner institutions including Ubuntu Leadership Academy WENET, Busoga Media Institute, Church of God International, Libra Foundation and Herber Consults.
Still Here — Still Growing
Seven years in, hundreds of lives touched, and still no salary paid to any member. The foundation continues to expand — seeking partners, donors, and fellow servants.
Institutions who walk with us
True transformation happens when institutions join hands. These are the organizations that have chosen to walk alongside African Cry Foundation in building a better Jinja.
The tree has room
for more shade.
None of us receive a salary. We are here because we believe every child deserves to dream freely, every woman deserves economic dignity, and every community deserves to be heard. If you share that heart — there is a place for you.
